The duo falls victim to the YouTube algorithm, plunging into conspiracies like #PizzaGate, #SaveTheChildren, and #ClintonBodyCount.
As former child predator hunters, their passion for truth and justice is obscured by their gullibility to fringe phenomena. The algorithm takes them on a deeper dive, where they discover a vaporwave remix of a song called “Take a Q (Anonymous Lover)” by Bobby Bridges. They want to interview Bobby... but he’s been off the grid since 1990's.
Set upon the verge of conspiracies during and after the 2016 U.S. election, Anonymous Lover explores a world in which our perspectives are warped by the echo chambers of social media and the vicious news cycle. A comedy, rocku-mockumentary, slapstick adventure, and satire about media consumption, pop culture, psychology, and 1980’s nostalgia in the post-truth era.
